Gerald Ellis

Gerald R. Ellis, 80, of Cherryvale, Kansas passed away Thursday, February 18, 2016 at the Wilson Medical Center, Neodesha, Kansas.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at the Potts Chapel Cherryvale with the Reverend Eric Lang officiating.
Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale, Kansas under the direction of the Potts Chapel.
Visitation hours will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p. m., Tuesday February 23, 2016 with the family receiving friends from 5:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale.
The family has suggested memorials to the American Cancer Association and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel.
Gerald was born July 4, 1935 in Coyville, Kansas the son of John and Blanche (Lewis) Ellis. He grew up in rural Mound valley in Labette County attending the Labette School Systems.
On February 11, 1953 Gerald was united in marriage to Edith Ratez the couple made their home in Cherryvale they were married 60 years. Edith preceded Gerald in death in December of 2012.
Gerald worked as a Garment Factory Supervisor for thirteen years at the Lee's Manufacturing Plant in Cherryvale he later worked at the Hackney Plant in Independence for ten years in production.
Survivors include two sons Edwin E. Ellis of Cherryvale and Eldon E. Ellis of Independence. Six grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Edith one daughter Esther Lundy two Brothers and four sisters.
