Gerald Bruington

Gerald D. Bruington, 82, of Independence died Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at the Montgomery Place, Independence, Kansas. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 28, 2012 at the Potts Chapel, Independence, Kansas with Pastor Roland Vega of the Lutheran Church of Independence officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas. Viewing and book signing will be held Thursday, December 27, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p. m. at Potts Chapel of Independence, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the Lutheran School in Independence, Kansas and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Gerald was born June 28, 1930 in Independence, Kansas, the son of Percy and Ida Mitchell Bruington. He grew up in Independence and graduated from the Independence School System. Gerald did farming on the family farm in the Independence area. Survivors include two brothers, Edwin Bruington of Independence, Ks., and Harold and wife Arlene Burington of Joplin, Mo. sisterinlaw Lois Bruington of Cheney, Ks. 2 nieces, Julie Bruington of Independence, Ks., and Lori and Mike Belluomo of Wichita, Ks. one nephew, Brent and Lana Bruington of Midland, Tx. great niece Jessica Bruington and four great nephews, Eric Bruington of Tulsa, Ok., Jeremy Bruington of Independence, Ks., and Trevor Kerr and Braden Kerr of Wichita, Ks. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Percy and Ida Brunington two brothers, Marvin and Glenn Bruington and a nephew, Jeff Bruington.
