Gerald Jerry Dean Arie,67, of Independence died Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Mercy Hospital, Independence. Cremation has taken place and the family is having a Memorial Service Wednesday September the 19th at 6:00 p.m. in the 4 H building at Riverside Park, Independence, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the Gerald Jerry Dean Aries Memorial Fund and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel, Independence, Ks., Jerry was born April 3, 1945 in Coffeyville, Kansas the son of Jessie Glenn and Velma May Looney. He grew up in the Havana and Wayside area and attended the Havana and Wayside School System. Jerry was a Truck Driver for Dewey Oil Company of Dewey, Oklahoma until his health forced him to retire. Survivors includes his companion of 9 years Rhonda Pate of the home, his mother Velma Huffard of Havana ,Ks., three sons Gerald Dean Arie Jr., of Hutchinson, Ks., Joseph Arie of Mound Valley, Ks., Leonard Arie of Ark City, Ks., step son Floyd Pate of Independence, Ks., three daughters Channa Walker of Mound Valley, Ks., Crystal Hammack of Independence, Ks., Misty Arie of Cedarvale, Ks., step daughter Kayla Pate of Joplin, Mo., one brother Gene Hufford of Caney, Ks., one sister JoAnna Daniels of Elk City, Ks., forty one grandchildren and one great grandchild.
