George Wuerdeman, age 90, of Independence, Kansas passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at his home in Independence, Kansas. Celebration of the Life Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2012 at the Zion Lutheran Church with the Reverend Fred Naumann officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville, Oklahoma under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2012 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the Zion Lutheran School and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. George Wuerdeman was born July 7, 1921 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Edward and Leona Schwenker Wuerdeman. George grew up in Cherryvale, Kansas and attended the Zion Lutheran School. On August 26, 1950 George was united in marriage to Jean Burruss and the couple made their home in Independence, Kansas. George owned and operated the Launder Teria for several years then worked for Standard Motors ACC for 18 years in the alternator and part departments. Survivors include his wife Jean of the home one daughter Connie Hagan of Tulsa, Oklahoma two brothers Lee Wuerdeman of Independence, Kansas and Henry Wuerdeman of Bartlesville, Oklahoma two sisters Bernice Hollabaugh of Independence, Kansas and Alene Vogelsang of North Carolina granddaughter Wendi Gann and two great grandchildren Macie Baker and Riley Gann.
