G. Vi Reed age 86, of Independence, Kansas died Saturday, November 10, 2012 at the Via Christi Mount Carmel Hospital in Pittsburg, Kansas. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 16, 2012 at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas with the Lee Mattix officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 15, 2012 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the American Heart Association and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. G. Vi Reed was born December 3, 1926 in Montezuma, Washington to Archie and Daisy C. Jones Dwinell. Vi grew up in Humboldt, Kansas and attended the Humboldt School System. On April 12, 1945 Vi married Wilbur Reed and the couple made their home in Independence, Kansas. Wilbur preceded her in death. Vi worked as a clerk for Betty Phills Hallmark Store for 20 years retiring in 1992. She was a member of the Congregational Church and a member of the Quilting Club at the Congregational Church of Independence, Kansas. Survivors include two sons Dean Reed of Independence, Kansas and Don Reed of Fairgrove, Missouri one brother Douglas Kline of Los Angeles California two sisters Lillian Schooly of Humboldt, Kansas and Wilmetta Burton of Fort Scott, Kansas six grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
