Franklin Russell

Franklin Frank O. Russell, age 87, of Neodesha, Kansas formerly of Independence, Kansas died Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. Celebration of Life Graveside Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the Mount Hope Cemetery with the Reverend Willie Jones of the Grace United Methodist Church officiating under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Neodesha, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 3, 2012 with the family receiving friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Neodesha, Kansas 818 W. Main. The family has suggested memorials to the American Legion Post 139 and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Neodesha, Kansas. Franklin Frank O. Russell was born November 15, 1924 in Kansas City, Missouri to George Edward and Agnus Lavaine Glover Russell. He grew up in Chanute, Kansas and graduated from the Chanute High School. Frank then entered the United States Navy serving in World War II from 1942 to 1945 and went on to retire from the United States Navy. In 1941 Frank married Georgia Anna Lindquist and the couple later divorced. On September 14, 1947 Frank married Wanda Mae Maynard in Iola, Kansas and the couple made their home in Chanute, Kansas. Frank worked at the Western Petro Chemical Company in Chanute, Kansas. In 1975 the couple moved to Independence, Kansas where Frank worked as a staff manager for National Life Accident Company before going to work for Emerson Electric. Frank was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Chanute, and the American Legion Post 139 and VFW Post 1186 in Independence, Kansas. Wanda preceded Frank in death Survivors include one daughter Kathrine E. Moon and husband Brady of Neodesha, Kansas one son James C. Russell and wife Cindi of Overland Park, Kansas three brothers Edgar A. Russell and wife Mae of Florida, Ronald Chittenden and Donald Chittenden both of Chanute, Kansas four grandchildren Johnathan Rodriquez and wife Cody, Rachel Rodriquez Davis and husband John, Morgan Russell, and Matthew Russell and wife Jessica five great grandchildren Elizabeth Rodriquez, Blake Rodriquez, Alexandra Rodriquez, Kate Rodriquez and Alexis Russell.
