Frank Mccabe

Frank McCabe, 76, of Independence, KS passed away Sunday, July 26, 2015 at the Inola Health and Rehabilitation Center in Inola, OK.
A celebration of life service will be held Friday, July 31st, 10:30 am at Potts Chapel of Independence. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 30th from 8:00am to 8:00pm at Potts Chapel.
Frank McCabe was born January 7, 1939 in Pittsburg, KS. He was the son of Jim and Betty L. (Mauterer) McCabe. Frank attended school and graduated from Cherokee High School, Cherokee, KS.
On June 6, 1957 Frank enlisted in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged on June 5, 1963. On December 17, 1960 in West Mineral, KS Frank was united in marriage to Colleen Wickersham and they made their home in Columbus, KS until moving to Independence in 1963.
Frank worked as an Electrical Foreman for the Heartland Cement Plant. In 1993, Frank started his own business that was known as McCabe's Heat and Air & Electrical, until his retirement in 2007.
Frank served as the Associate Pastor of the Latter Day Saints Church of Independence for three years. At the time of his passing, Frank was a member of the Community Christian Church of Independence, KS.
Frank was a member of the American Legion Post #139 of Independence, KS and the VFW Post #9768 of Caney, KS.
Frank loved watching his grandchildren play in their sports, he also enjoyed going to the Air Shows in Topeka and the surrounding areas. Frank loved spending time with his close family and was a very patient man. Frank enjoyed spending time with his friends over coffee and dinner in his spare time.
Frank is survived by two sons Frank P. McCabe and wife Linda of Independence, and Michael J. McCabe of Wichita KS, and two grandsons, Jace P. McCabe and Jaret C. McCabe of Independence.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Colleen on March 13th 2013 and one sister, Linda Bitner.
Memorials can be made to the Independence VFW and may be left at Potts Chapel of Independence.
