Frankie Frank Joe Darbro, age 74, of Elk City, Kansas died Friday, January 1, 2010 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas with the Pastor Kris Smilko of the Lone Cherry Southern Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 5, 2009 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the Lone Cherry Southern Baptist Church and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Frankie Joe Darbro was born August 26, 1935 in Elk City, Kansas to Daniel E. and Naomi Davis Darbro. He grew up in Elk City, Kansas and graduated from the Elk City High School. Frank also graduated from Independence Community College with an Associates degree. On October 4, 1958 Frank married Betty Hallmark in Wichita, Kansas. The couple made their home in Derby, Kansas before moving to Elk City, Kansas in 1996. Frank worked for Beech Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas as a computer analysis for 43 years retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Lone Cherry Southern Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife Betty of the home two sons Frankie Darbro of El Dorado, Kansas and David Darbro of Shell Knob, Missouri one brother Benny Darbro of Elk City, Kansas two sisters Mary Lou Persinger and Charlotte Smith both of Emporia, Kansas 5 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandchild his parents, and two brothers Daniel and Edward.
