Frances Wyckoff

October 13, 1924 — March 27, 2015

Frances Gail Lang Wyckoff was born to Albert and Edith (Pyle) Lang October 13th, 1924 at a private home in Independence, KS.
She departed this world March 27, 2015 from her home of the last 55 years after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. The family will hold a private
celebration of life in the near future. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Foundation and may be left at Potts Chapel
in Independence, where a registry is available to sign for the family.

Frances enjoyed a happy childhood with two sisters and her parents, moving a few times, always within or near Independence.
Her dad worked at C. Ray Schultz cleaners on East Main while her mother kept the household. Frances was salutatorian of her IHS senior class
and proudly graduated from Independence Junior College. While in high school and after, she and her sister, Peggy, were switchboard operators
at Southwestern Bell on East Main. Peggy made a career with the company, but Frances stopped working outside the home when
she married Carl Dennis Wyckoff on December 7, 1957 in Nowata, Oklahoma. They celebrated 56 years of marriage before Carl's death in July 2013.

Frances soon had four children to love and quickly became a skilled home maker. Her cooking rivaled the best, she kept a
neat household, loved flower gardening, and was a pretty good home singer ... loving show tunes and the old songs from the WWII
time period - possibly prompted by the good times she had dancing at the air base that used to be southwest of Independence.

Frances enjoyed traveling with Carl, pink and purple, getting her money's worth at a good buffet, the Oak Ridge Boys, the Gatlins,
weekly hair appointments, the many family pets, music, friends, weekly shopping trips with sister and best friend, Peggy, bargain hunting, coconut,
anything sweet, and presenting an awesome table for family gatherings. Many creatively decorated cakes completed the meals at her home.
She loved Neewollah - the play, the Saturday night headliner, and the parade. She enjoyed her grandchildren coming to visit during the summers when
they were young and remembering everyone's birthday.

She was loving, caring, thoughtful and kind... had a gentle way and a small smile on her face most always. She always wore earrings
and a bracelet to snaz up any outfit. Beautiful, loving sister, wife, mom, and lady.

Those surviving to miss her include sister, Peggy Lang McCloud, sons and their wives, John and Elaine Wyckoff; James and Betty Wyckoff,
daughter and husband, Lisa Kay and PJ Hinkle, grandchildren Christopher, Gregory, Holly, Kelly, Reven and Hilary, several great grandchildren,
nieces and cousins. Preceding her in death, besides her husband, are her parents, a sister, Mary Beth Cain, and a daughter, Janet Wyckoff Dixon.

There's a special place in Heaven for the always there care givers who stayed with Frances (and Carl) the last three years and made it possible
for them to leave this life from the comfort of their own home. Thanks also to Mercy Hospice for helping us transition to life without her.
It wasn't always easy.
