Florence Braa

Florence Beatrice Braa, age 93, of Independence, Kansas died Thursday, February 10, 2011 at the Mercy Hospital in Independence, Kansas. Celebration of Life Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Highland Lutheran Church in rural Sherman, South Dakota. Interment will be held in the Highland Cemetery in rural Sherman, South Dakota. Services are under the direction of Kahler Funeral Home of Dell Rapids, South Dakota. Local arrangements are under the direction of Potts Chapel. Florence was born October 3, 1917 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Arthur and Ellen Sophia Shoblom Jones. She grew up in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She worked as a secretary in Sioux Falls until her marriage. On July 23, 1950 Florence married Conrad Braa in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The couple lived in Garretson, South Dakota until moving to a farm near Sherman, South Dakota. Upon retirement they moved to Dell Rapids, South Dakota. Conrad preceded her in death in 1988. She was a member of the Highland Lutheran Church. Survivors include one daughter Marlene Bannwarth and her husband David of Independence, Kansas one brother Floyd Bob Jones of Sioux Falls, South Dakota one sister Lorraine Barnes of Idaho Falls, Idaho four granddaughters Angela Etheredge of Park City, Kansas, Alexis Zayas of Arlington, Virginia, Emily Bannwarth of Kansas City, Missouri and Mary Bannwarth of Independence, Kansas one grandson Timothy Bannwarth of Basehor, Kansas six great grandchildren.
