Everett Frances Bower, 81 of Elk City, Kansas passed away at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, December 13, 2022.
Everett was born in a farmhouse on July 21, 1941 in Niotaze, Kansas to Everett Paul and Mary (Dunham) Bower. He attended Atwater CA Schools and graduated in 1960. In January of 1964, Everett joined the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1966. While in the Army, Everett met Sylvia Lopez in San Antonio and on July 10, 1965 the two got married. The two then moved to Merced California in 1966 where Everett attended Merced College. Everett worked as a mechanic at Ken Pearson from 1973 to 1981. In 1981 they moved their family to Elk City, Kansas and he went to work at Cobalt Boats until 1986. He then moved to his favorite job in 2007, driving a school bus. He drove the school bus for 10 years, finally retiring in 2017.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Bower, parents, Everett and Mary Bower and sister, Jackie Affholter.
Everett’s memory will live on with his sons, Paul and wife Charity Bower of Elk City, and Michael Bower also of Elk City, sister, Sue Schoonover of California, and grandchildren, Levi Dowell, Jackson Dowell, Abigal Bower, Danielle Bower and Lincoln Dowell. The family will greet friends at Potts Chapel in Independence for the visitation on Monday, December 19th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Celebration of Everett’s life will be held at Potts Chapel on Tuesday, December 20th at 10:00 am with burial immediately following at Havana Cemetery.
