Eva "Blanche" Scott Mavers Folk
aka Tiger, Mom, Nana, Woman, Beaver
Every name given was as individual as the person we know and love. If you were lucky enough to cross her path, you experienced her sense of humor, kindness and knowledge. She would make you laugh, teach you to bowl, play softball or volleyball, life skills and a few choice words. Halloween at her house was the true meaning of trick or treat. She loved kids, from babies to teens, puppies, butterflies, humming birds, flowers, music and dancing, puzzles, working in the garden, swimming, watching Mollie B polka party, westerns and the NY Yankees, especially Derek Jeter! She loved Life!
Blanche passed early morning June 22, 2023 peacefully at home.
Eva Blanche was born January 30, 1930, the middle child to Marye (Marie) Lee and Bennett Everett Scott. She has five sisters, Albertia (Bert), Nina May, Betty Jane, Ivy Orlena (Dutch) and Frances Lee, three brothers Bennett (Jr), Harry and Wayne Thomas (Tommy).
Blanche loved two very special men in her life. She married Arthur Thomas Mavers in Independence on January 10, 1948. They had four children Kathy (Curt) Belt, Mike Mavers, Teresa (Randy) Banning and Melissa Merriman. Losing Art on November 22, 1977 was devasting for Blanche and the kids. Blanche married Richard Eugene Folk on June 29, 1979 and he quickly became the best husband, caregiver, stepdad and papa anyone could ask for.
Blanche was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She worked at Electra Manufacturing Co, Independence City Recreation and Ash Center as well as teaching exercise classes, bowling, working concessions at the ballpark, refereeing volleyball and coaching softball. Blanche and Richard organized and hosted the Senior Citizens dances at the Memorial hall for years. Blanche babysat for several kids through the years, which she loved as much as her own.
Those left to carry on her legacy in addition to her husband Richard, are her son Mike, daughters, Kathy, Teresa and Missy, seven grandkids and thirteen great grandkids, Heather, Bryan (Haley), Casey, Jessica, Jordan (Jessica), Josh (Miranda), Brandon, Kane (Chloe), Nolyn, Jackson, Carsyn, Rhemi, Khloe, Ahrey, Zander, Ella, Memphis, Aurora, Luca and Valerie.
Blanche was proceeded in death by her parents, siblings, first husband Art and daughter in-law Carla Mavers.
