Etta L. Sherman, 78, of Cherryvale, Kansas passed away at 6:01 p.m., Saturday, March 12, 2011 at the Cherryvale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale with Reverend Wayne Hett, officiating. Visitation will be held from 12noon until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Potts Chapel of Cherryvale with family receiving from 6 7 p.m. Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Alzheimers Association and may be left at Potts Chapel of Cherryvale of mailed to P.O. Box 801, Independence, Kansas. Etta L. Sherman was born December 5, 1932 at Stillwater, Oklahoma the daughter of Virgil Edward Thompson and Alice Davis Thompson. She grew up in Stillwater and attended schools in both Stillwater and Tulsa, Oklahoma. On October 25, 1949 in Stillwater, Oklahoma she was united in marriage to James Harry Sherman and he preceded her in death April 3, 1995. She was a homemaker and the couple moved to Cherryvale after James retirement in 1991. Survivors include: one son, Roger Sherman and his wife Sandie of Independence, Kansas, one daughter, Patti Sherman of Topeka, Kansas, one brother, James Thompson of Stillwater, Oklahoma, 5 grandchildren, Quincie Gary Ingram, Melinda Senne, Suzanne Sherman Michael, Joey Ortega Marie, Christina Ortega, 4 great grandchildren, Michael Ingram, Elijah Ingram, Brianna Evans, Jessie Ortega. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one son, Larry Sherman.
