Enid Parman

Enid Nadine (Gates) Parman, 94, previous long time resident of Elgin, KS, died May 7th 2015 while a resident of Bartlesville Health and Rehabilitation Center. Enid was born September 30, 1920 in Hewins, KS, to James Herb Gates and Willa Ruth (Lavely) Gates. Enid attended school in Hewins where she completed the 10th grade. Enid married John Reed Parman Jr. on February 13, 1944 in Pryor, Ok. They made their family home in Elgin where they raised their 2 daughters, Kathy and Willa. The home in Elgin was the weekend gathering place for the entire family for many years.
Enid was a member of the Methodist church in Elgin. In August 1996 Enid lost her husband who she would affectionately call "Turkey Tom". Enid remained in the family home until May 2004, at which time she relocated to the Dewey area to be closer to her continuously growing family. Enid's great grandchildren enjoyed spending time with her. You could frequently find one of them spending the night with her and watching one of the many reality shows she enjoyed.
Enid was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Gerald Gates, sister Morine Stout, and son in law Charles Redding. Enid is survived by one sister, Wanda Lee Johnson of Pittsburg, PA, daughter Kathy Barham and son in law Clay Barham of Wann, Ok., daughter Willa Redding of Dewey, OK, 6 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at the Elgin Cemetery, Wednesday May 13, 2015 at 2:00 pm under the direction of Potts Chapel Funeral Home, Caney. Friends are welcome to sign the register book at the funeral home, or share online condolences at www.pottsfuneralhome.com. Memorial contributions in memory of Enid Parman are suggested to Elgin Methodist Church, and can be left with the Potts Chapel Funeral Home in Caney.
