Emma Jean Wood age 81, of Cherryvale, Kansas died Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at her home in Cherryvale, Kansas. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the Cherryvale United Methodist Church with the Reverend Susan Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale, Kansas under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 16, 2010 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the Cherryvale United Methodist Church or the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas. Emma Jean Wood was born August 16, 1928 in Cherryvale, Kansas to Sam and Ruth Kriebel Dack. She grew up in Cherryvale, Kansas and graduated from the Cherryvale High School in 1946. On March 27, 1946 Emma Jean married Ted Wood in Girard, Kansas. The couple made their home in Cherryvale, Kansas. Emma Jean was a homemaker and worked in food service for USD 447. She was a member of the Cherryvale United Methodist Church and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Survivors include her husband Ted of the home one son Terry Wood and wife Marsha of Cherryvale, Kansas two daughters Jeanne Thompson of Coffeyville, Kansas and Trish Lair and husband Randy of Wichita, Kansas six grandchildren Sam Wood, Brandy Gordon, Kyndall Thompson, Mackenzie Lair, Julie Line and Matt Lair she was preceded in death by one grandson Josh Wood eight great grandchildren Ella Gordon, James Gordon, Evan Gordon, Jacob Gordon, Bella Line, Cooper Line, Brody Lair, and Avery Lair.
