Elsie Phillips

Elsie Louree Phillips, 88, passed away Monday, August 19, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Neodesha, Kansas. Graveside services will be held Friday, August 23, 2013 at the Neodesha Cemetery at 1:00 p.m under the direction of Potts Chapel of Independence. The Reverend Jerry Botts will be officiating. Visitation will be held at Potts Chapel in Independence from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 22, 2013. The Family will be receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The family has suggested memorials to the Golden Living Center Activity Fund and can be left with Potts Chapel. Elsie Louree was born November 20, 1924 in Neodesha, Kansas to Byron A. and Elsie Jay McHugh. She grew up in Neodesha and attended the Neodesha schools. On February 16, 1942, Louree married Cecil Phillips in Fredonia, Kansas. Cecil preceded her in death in 1977. Louree worked at Mercy Hospital and was a homemaker. Survivors include one son, David W. Phillips of Burgaw North Carolina four daughters, Anita Theel of Cherryvale, Kansas, Louise Manning of Florence, Texas, Cheryl Standridge of Florence, Texas, and Terry Martin of League City, Texas 21 grandchildren 30 greatgrandchildren and 10 greatgreatgrandchildren.
