Elnora Josephine Hancourt Vaughn of Independence died at 5:05 p.m., on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the Wilson County Medical Center, Neodesha, Kansas. She was born December 13, 1916 near Rock, Kansas, to Estel Arthur and Mildred Juanita Williams Harcourt. She attended a oneroom grade school south of Rock, Kansas and graduated from Douglas High School in Douglas, Kansas. She was a resident of Independence, Kansas since 1956. She was an employee of Automotive Controls Corporation in Independence for 20 years, retiring from there in 1979. She was a charter member of the First Church of the Nazarene of Winfield, Kansas and was associated with the Bible Holiness Church since moving to Independence. She and William Roland Vaughn were married on September 8, 1938 in Winfield, Kansas. To this union five children were born. She is survived by three daughters Virginia Imogene and husband Gerald Carlburg of Claremore, Oklahoma Geneva E. Smith of Kingdom City, Missouri Mary Alice and husband Eldon Caruthers of Palmdale, California and one son Paul Vaughn and wife Sharon of Independence 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one son and one soninlaw. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 26, 2011 at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas with the Reverend Joe Davolt officiating. Burial will follow in the Mound Valley Cemetery under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 25, 2011 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the Independence Bible School and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas.
