Elizabeth Smith

Elizabeth Joanne Smith, age 81, of Elk City, Kansas died Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at the Windsor Place in Independence, Kansas. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Potts Chapel. Elizabeth was born February 11, 1928 in Howard, Kansas to Robert Lyford and Georgia Smith Orr. She grew up in Howard, Kansas. After graduating High School Elizabeth received her degree from Kansas State University. In June of 1949 Elizabeth married George L. Smith in El Dorado, Kansas; the couple made their home in Caney, Kansas, Topeka, Kansas, Medicine Lodge, Kansas, Fredonia, Kansas before moving to Elk City, Kansas. George preceded her in death. Elizabeth worked in Real Estate in Topeka, Kansas for many years, she also later worked in an Alco Store while living in Medicine Lodge. She was a member of the First Methodist Church in Topeka, Kansas. Survivors include two sons Matt L. Smith of Independence, Kansas and Scott Smith of Elk City, Kansas; two grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; one brother Bob Orr of LaJolla, California.
