Elizabeth A. Bryan, age 87, of Caney, Kansas died Monday, June 15, 2009 at the Catholic Care Center in Wichita, Kansas. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 19, 2009 at the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas with the Reverend Angela DeFischer of the Caney United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunnyside Cemetery under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2009 with the family receiving friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the Caney United Methodist Church and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas. Elizabeth was born September 23, 1921 in Grinnell, Iowa to Erie and Ethel. She grew up in LaCygne, Kansas and graduated from the LaCygne High School. In January of 1941 Elizabeth married Norris Bryan in Paola, Kansas where they made their home. In 1956 the couple moved to Caney, Kansas. Norris preceded her in death. Elizabeth worked for the Caney Valley National Bank for over 25 years. After retiring she loved to travel and volunteered on various community projects. She was a member of the Caney United Methodist Church, the Home Culture Club, the Bridge Club and the United Methodist women. She also volunteered at the Church. Survivors include two sons Jerry Bryan of Fernandina Beach, Florida and James Bryan of Forsythe, Missouri; one daughter Janet Kelley of Wichita, Kansas; two brothers Jack Boyd of Overland Park, Kansas and Jim Boyd of Kansas City, Missouri; 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; she was preceded in death by one grandchild and one great grandchild.
