Eldon Williams

Eldon Dwight Williams age 72, of Cherryvale, Kansas died Saturday, December 27, 2008 at his home in Cherryvale, Kansas. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas with the Reverend Mike Graham officiating. The family has suggested memorials to the Eldon Williams Memorial and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas. Eldon was born July 7, 1936 in St. John, Kansas to Harry and Arena Jones Williams. He grew up in the Morehead, Kansas area and graduated from the Altamont High School in 1955. Eldon worked in the oil fields in Great Bend, Kansas before moving to Kansas City. On October 27, 1956 Eldon married Beverly Howell in Kansas City, Missouri where the couple made their home before moving to Independence, Kansas. In 1974 the couple moved to Cherryvale, Kansas. Eldon worked at Starcraft, and as a carpet installer and for Consolidated Oil until his retirement in 1998. He also worked on Motorcycle engines. Eldon loved to ride motorcycles and was a member of the Dukes Dutchs Motorcycle Club in Independence, Kansas. Survivors include his wife Beverly of the home; three sons Stephen Dwight Williams, Russell Allen Williams and Jeremy Ryan Williams all of Cherryvale; one daughter Christi Medlock of Independence, Kansas; one brother Dewayne Williams of Chetopa, Kansas; two sisters Shirley Cline of Joplin, Missouri and Sharon Hainzinger of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; five grandchildren Megan Deann Williams of Wichita, Kansas, Chad Wayne Shaffer of Independence, Kansas, Danielle Paige Medlock of Independence, Kansas, Alec Stephen Medlock of Independence, Kansas and Aaron Chase Medlock of Independence, Kansas.
