Elaine Kay Kimzey, 59 of Elk City, Kansas passed away Saturday, August 31, 2019 after a long-fought battle with cancer. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 4th at 10:00 am at the Church of the Nazarene in Elk City. Interment will then immediately follow at Longton Cemetery.
Elaine Kay Kimzey was born on January 18, 1960, the daughter of James and Alma (Hinthorn) White in Independence, Kansas. Elaine graduated from Independence High School in 1978 and then earned her associate degree from Independence Community College. From there Elaine earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Pittsburg State University. Elaine worked at Independence Community College in the business department for 31 years. Elaine was a hard worker who loved her job, and it was evident when she was awarded employee of the month, an award she was extremely proud of. On December 2, 1993, Elaine married Steve Kimzey in Independence, the two then made their home in Elk City. Then soon after, the two welcomed their only son Josh. Elaine loved to crochet, play piano and read, but most of all she loved the time she got to spend with her family. Elaine will be remembered as a caring and loving wife, mother, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Alma White, and sister Gail Spillman.
Those left to cherish Elaine’s memory include; her husband, Steve and son, Josh, mother in-law, Darlene Kimzey, sister in-laws, Vicki and husband Roger Hammack, and Cheryl and Frank Arnwine, niece, Janet and husband Dale Ritzert, and aunt, Marilyn Comstock. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested a memorial contribution be made in Elaine’s name to The American Cancer Society.
