E.L. Giltner

E. L. Junior SONNY Giltner,75, of Sycamore died Friday October 7, 2011 as the result of a automobile accident. A Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday October 13, 2011 at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, Independence, Kansas with the Bishopric of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints Officiating. Under the direction of Potts Chapel Independence,. Sonny was born August 4, 1936 in Parson, Kansas the son of Elmer L. and Cleda K. Wiglesworth Giltner he grew up in Parson and attended the Parson and Altoona School Systems. Sonny severed in the United States Army from 1953 to 1956 he attained his GED after serving in the Army. He then attended the Labette County Community College where he received his Associate Degree. On May 26, 1957 Sonny was united in Marriage to Eugena Jeannie A Smith in Miami, Oklahoma and Jeanie survives at the home. Sonny owned and operated the Giltner Ford Motor Company in Fredonia and Neodesha, Kansas for over 20 years he then worked for the Romans Motor Company, Independence for 7 years. He was a life Member of the Parson, Kansas, VFW and Ducks Unlimited. Survivors includes his mother Cleda DeVahery of Derby, Kansas,Jeanie his wife of Sycamore, Kansas, two daughters Cherie McGuire of Independence,Kansas. and Tammy Giltner of Fredonia, Kansas, one brother Daryl Giltner of Fort Scott, Kansas, and one sister Peggy Shoemaker of Derby, Kansas. Seven grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
