Edna Mae Pugh, 87, of Independence passed away Sunday at Windsor Place in Independence. Celebration of Life Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, August 6, 2011 at First Christian Church in Independence. Friends may register from 12Noon until 8 p.m. Friday at Potts Chapel with family receiving friends from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Interment will be held in Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorial remembrances are suggested to the First Christian Church or Meals on Wheels and may be left at Potts Chapel. Edna Mae Plummer was born March 28, 1924 in Cherryvale, Kansas the daughter of Jesse Earl Plummer and Ruby Blanche Holt Plummer. She grew up in Cherryvale and graduated from Cherryvale High School in 1942. Edna Mae married Clarence Everett Pugh February 2, 1941 in Sedan, Kansas. He preceded her in death June 21, 2006. The couple lived in Cherryvale, Independence, Kansas, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Dallas, Texas and Winfield, Kansas. She was employed with Sinclair Pipeline Company and Atlantic Richfield Company ARCO for more than 30 years as an Executive Secretary. She retired from ARCO in 1985 in Dallas, Texas. Edna Mae compiled and maintained The Plummer Family genealogy. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Independence, Kansas. She is survived by two sons, Phillip W. Carmella Pugh of San Jose, CA, Donald N. Linda Pugh of Lowville, NY five grandchildren, Dr. Lynelle Lynn of Dallas, TX, Cara J. Pugh, San Jose, CA, Lori Janelle Cassidy, Rogers, AR, Greg S. Pugh, Salem, MO, Kurtis E. Pugh, East Syracuse, NY three great grandchildren, Caleb A. Lynn and Cameron P. Lynn of Dallas, TX, Kayden H. Pugh, East Syracuse, NY sister in law Neva Plummer, Cherryvale, KS and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Ruby Plummer, stepfather Max E. Cramer, two brothers, Carl Eugene, Chester Dean Plummer and sister, Wilma Jean Torrance.
