Edna Lumm Gibson, age 88, of Independence, Kansas formerly of Cherryvale, Kansas died Friday, December 5, 2008 at the Regal Estates in Independence, Kansas. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas with the Reverend Mike Graham of Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel. Edna was born March 20, 1920 in Severy, Kansas to James E. and Maude A. Starkey Coons. On June 20, 1958 Edna married Roy Gibson in Miami, Oklahoma and the couple made their home in Cherryvale, Kansas. Roy preceded her in death. She worked at garment factories in Cherryvale, Kansas and at the Ammunition Plant in Parsons during 3 different wars. Edna retired from ACC in Independence, Kansas. Survivors include one son Russell Lumm of Little Rock, Arkansas; Seven Grandchildren David Lumm of Independence, Kansas, Douglas Lumm of Owasso, Oklahoma, DeWayne Lumm of Independence, Kansas, Jennifer Reeves of Springfield, Missouri, Cynthia Johnson of Little Rock, Arkansas, Mike Houser of Camarillo, California and Lisa Houser of Colorado; 12 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter Shirley Lumm Houser; her parents, one sister, one half sister and one brother.
