Edith Ellis

Edith Irene Ellis, 76, of Cherryvale died Sunday, December 23, 2012 at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:OO p.m. Friday, December 28, 2012 at Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas with the Reverend Eric Lang officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale, Kansas under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 27, 2012 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the American Cancer Society and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel In Cherryvale, Kansas. Edith was born April 19, 1936 in Wakefield, Kansas the daughter of William and Irene Goodnight Ratez. She grew up in Labette City and attended the Altamont School System. On February 11, 1952 in Parsons, Kansas Edith was united in marriage to Gerald R. Ellis and the couple made their home in Cherryvale since 1955. Gerald survives at the home. Edith worked as a seamstress for the H. D. Lee Manufacturing Company in Cherryvale, Kansas for 23 years she then worked for Emerson Electric in Independence, Ks. retiring after 15 years. Survivors include her husband Gerald Ellis of the home two sons, Edwin E. Ellis, Sr., of Cherryvale, Ks. and Eldon E. Ellis of Independence, Ks. 1 sister, Wilma Mosler of Grand Lake, Ok. six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Edith was preceded in death by her daughter, Esther Ellis Lundy.
