Dr. Ivan Lavern Koplin, age 89, of Sedan, Kansas formerly of Caney, Kansas died Sunday, September 23, 2012 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 27, 2012 at the Trinity Lutheran Church with the Pastor Ken Lott officiating. Burial will follow at the Sunnyside Cemetery under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 26, 2012 and from 9:00 a.m. to noon Thursday, September 27, 2012 at the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the Trinity Lutheran Church or the CanKan Dream Builders and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas. Ivan was born December 21, 1922 in Greenleaf, Kansas to Fred and Katie Koplin. Ivan grew up in Greenleaf, Kansas and graduated from the Marysville High School. Ivan then entered the United States Navy on December 28, 1942 and served during World War II until his honorable discharge on January 19, 1946. Ivan then graduated from the Kansas City Chiropractic College he did his internship in Wichita, Kansas. On February 8, 1948 Ivan married Julia Loriaux in Wichita, Kansas. The couple made their home in Caney, Kansas she preceded him in death on February 26, 2008. Ivan was a chiropractor in Caney, Kansas from 1948 until his retirement in 2002. Ivan was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Caney JayCees, and the Caney American Legion. Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.
