Douglas Lester

Douglas Lester, 56, of Independence KS, passed away Monday, January 23rd, 2017 at Wilson County Medical Center in Neodesha KS,
A celebration of life service will be Friday, January 27th 2017 at 10:00 am at the First United Methodist Church in Independence KS, with Pastor Earl Haggerd officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, January 26th 2017 at Potts Chapel in Independence, KS from 9:00am to 8:00pm with the family receiving friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
Doug Lester was born August 2nd 1960 in Bartlesville, OK, the son of Harlan and Vivian (Miller) Lester. Doug graduated from high school in Elko, Nevada in 1978. He also attended Coffeyville Community College and obtained an Associate degree. On March 9th 1984 in Coffeyville, KS, Doug Lester was united in marriage to Arlene Cauble, they made their home in Southeast Kansas.
Doug enjoyed spending time with his loving family and was very proud of his Granddaughter Blythe often taking her picture out to show everyone. He loved to hunt, fish and ride horses, especially on the family farm. Doug and his family are very proud of a Wildlife Conservation Award that he received in 2014. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Doug Lester is survived by his wife Arlene of the home, two daughters Heather Estes and husband Skyler, and Lauren Ysusi and husband Matthew, all of Independence KS, one brother Rodney Lester and wife Melissa of Frederick, CO, one granddaughter Blythe Estes and another grandchild due in June.
His parents and two brothers Jerry Wayne and Bradley Allen Lester precede Doug in death.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Douglas Lester's name with the intention for education for grandchildren and can be left at Potts Chapel of Independence KS, on line condolences can be left to the family by going to www.pottsfuneralhome.com
