Douglas Drake

Douglas W. Drake, age 56, of Cherryvale, Kansas died Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at his home. A Graveside Celebration of Life Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 25, 2010 at the Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale, Kansas With the Chaplain Mike Graham of Harry Hynes Hospice Officiating. Burial will be under the directions of the Potts Chapel of Cherryvale. Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 24, 2010 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas. Douglas was born December 20, 1953 in Independence, Kansas to Charles and Shirley Despain Drake. He grew up in Shawnee Mission, Kansas and attended the Shawnee Mission School Systems. Douglas entered the U. S. Army on September 14, 1972 while serving in the Army he received the National Defense Service Medal as well as a Marksman Medal he also received his GED before his honorable discharge on September 6, 1975. On November 20, 1976 Douglas married Diana Schoonover in Independence, Kansas. Douglas worked with Fiberglass for Able Body of Joplin, Missouri. Survivors include his wife of the home, two sons Casey Drake of Cherryvale, and Dustin Drake of Independence, Kansas, one daughter Summer Drake of Cherryvale, Kansas, one brother Tim Drake of Cherryvale, Kansas and one sister Ruth Clarkson of Independence, Kansas and 2 grandchildren.
