Dorothy I. Vaughn, 88, passed away Thursday, April 20, 2017 at her home in Fort Worth, TX.
Visitation, viewing, and book signing will be held at Potts Chapel at 122 S. Penn, Independence, Kansas on Monday, April 24, 2017 from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. Friends can also leave a message for the family online at www.pottsfuneralhome.com.
Graveside services will be at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 25, 2017. The family has suggested memorials to the American Heart Association and may be left at Potts Chapel.
Dorothy was born January 14, 1929, in Wilson County, Kansas the daughter of Arthur and Rica Pryor. She grew up in Wilson county and was Postmaster in Lafontaine, Kansas, for over 30 years. On June 20, 1969 Dorothy was united in marriage to Thomas R. Vaughn. Dorothy and Thomas continued to live in the Wilson/Montgomery County area until Thomas passed away in 2013. In 2014 Dorothy moved to Fort Worth, TX to be close to her family.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Trena Oelschlager of Ocala, Florida, Connie Sexton of Fort Worth, TX, Jackie Newham of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, two sons Courtney Vaughn of Derby, Kansas, Rickie Vaughn of Longton, KS; a sister, Helen Donohue of Fredonia, Kansas, and thirteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
