Dorothy Quisenberry

Dorothy Marie Quisenberry, age 82, of Independence, Kansas, died Wednesday May 4, at Mercy Hospital in Independence, Kansas. Celebration of Life Services will be held on Monday, May 9, 2011 at 2:00pm at the First Southern Baptist Church in Independence, Kansas with Pastor Claudie Alford officiating. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery under the direction of Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Visitation will be from 10:00am1:45pm on Monday, May 9 at the First Southern Baptist Church. The family has suggested memorials to the First Southern Baptist Church and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel. Dorothy was born on January 17, 1929 in Fulton, Missouri, the daughter of Bert and Lorena Colfelt Thorp. She attended school and graduated in Fulton, Missouri. On June 24, 1946, she was united in marriage to Lloyd Quisenberry in Kansas City, Kansas. He preceded her in death on December 2, 2010. Dorothy worked as a manager for Sears and retired after 20 years. She was a very active member of the First Southern Baptist Church. Survivors include 1 daughter Diane Isham of Tyler, Texas 2 sons Bert L. Quisenberry of Independence, Kansas, and James P. Quisenberry of Independence, Kansas: 3 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren.
