Dorothy Lentz

Dorothy Jean Lentz, age 85 of Sycamore, Kansas, passed away on Friday, October 6,2017, in Copan Oklahoma. She was suffering from a terminal illness. Visitation will be on Friday, October 13th from 12:00 to 7:00, with family greeting friends from 6:00 to 7:00. Services will be held on Saturday, October 14th at 10:00 am at Potts Chapel in Independence with graveside following at Mount Hope Cemetery.
She was born, Dorothy Jean Fleetwood on January 2, 1932, to George Fleetwood and Mary Francis Graceson Fleetwood in Tulsa Oklahoma. Dorothy attended school in Tulsa. She married Rudolph Houston Lentz on February 25, 1948. The couple had two children and later moved to Independence, Kansas, where R.H. was employed by Arco Pipeline. Dorothy worked for Automotive Controls Corporation for 33 years before her retirement. She then worked part time at Bradford Place in Independence. The couple made their home in rural Sycamore for many years. Dorothy enjoyed her yard work, gardening, cooking, dancing, and her family and friends. She attended Sycamore United Methodist Church in Sycamore. She met and became friend and companion to Bob Alexander of Copan OK.
Dorothy is preceded in death by stepfather, the Reverend Fred Marshall, her mother, Mary Francis Graceson Fleetwood Marshall, husband, Rudolph H. Lentz, and son, Ronald F. Lentz. Survivors include, son, Rudy C. Lentz and wife Kathy Lentz of Sycamore, 4 grandchildren, Ron Lentz, of Wellston, OK, Laurie Williamson, of Sperry, OK, Rhonda Lentz, of Copan OK, and Ryan Lentz, of Port Aransas, TX companion, Bob Alexander, of Copan, OK, 7 great grandchildren, one great grandchild, all of Oklahoma, one brother, Ronald Joe Fleetwood, of Collinsville, OK, and several nieces and nephews.
The family has requested memorials be left to the Sycamore United Methodist Church and may be left at Potts Chapel. Online condolences may be left at www.pottsfuneralhome.com
