Dorothy M. Johnson, 85, of Independence, Kansas died Friday February 27, 2015 at Mercy Hospital, Independence.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a. m .Wednesday March 4, 2015 at the St. Andrew Catholic Church with Father Andrew Heiman officiating. Burial will follow in the old St Andrew cemetery in Morgantown under the direction of the Potts Chapel, Independence.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday March 3, 2015 at the Potts Chapel, Independence.
Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p. m. and the family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p. m. at the Potts Chapel Independence.
The family has suggested memorials to the American Cancer Society and contributions' may be left at the Potts Chapel, Independence.
Dorothy was born January 6, 1930 in Liberty, Kansas the daughter of James w. and Lelia (Manley) Malone. She grew up in Liberty and attended the Liberty School System.
On October 18, 1948 in Bentonville, Arkansas Dorothy was united in marriage to Raymond Johnson and the couple made their home in Independence. Raymond preceded her in death in July of 2006.
Dorothy was a homemaker and loved babysitting.
Survivors include two daughters Joyce Childers and Rose Aiken both of Independence, Ks. two sons Cleo E. Johnson of Lenexa, Ks. and Philip L. Johnson of Jacksonville, Arkansas, one brother Lesley Malone of Independence, Ks. One sister Oneta Anderson of Neodesha, Ks. Eighteen grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren as well as 3 great great grandchildren
