Dorothy Brand

Dorothy Sue Brand passed away on January 14, 2016, with her family by her side at Labette Health in Parsons, Kansas at the age of 94. Dorothy was born November 16, 1921 on a farm near Elk City, Kansas to Elmer Ellsworth and Rose Mae (Davis) Davidson.
On August 3, 1942 she married Cecil Louis Brand in Independence, Kansas. She spent her career employed at ACC, later known as Dana of Independence, until her retirement. Dorothy was a member of Eastern Star for 65 years plus and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 45 plus years.
Dorothy enjoyed attending church, having lunch with the girls and dancing. She is survived by her daughter Marilyn Brown of Vinita, Oklahoma, grandsons; Douglas Brown and Vincent Blaine both of Afton, OK, granddaughter, Julie Brown, Oswego, Kansas, and great granddaughter, Victoria Brown of Vinita, OK, sister-in-law Wilma Davidson of Havana, Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 3 brothers and one sister.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00pm on January 18th at the Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale, Kansas. Reverend Tom Reazin will be officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Potts Chapel of Cherryvale. In Lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials be made to the Mound Valley Methodist Church.
