Doris Winkel Fritz, age 85, of Coffeyville, Kansas died Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at the St. Johns Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 2, 2009 at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Coffeyville, Kansas with the Pastor Wayne Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale, Kansas under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Friday, May 1, 2009 at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the Emmanuel Baptist Church and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel. Doris was born August 24, 1923 in Cherryvale, Kansas to William and Nellie Maple Holt. On May 1, 1939 Doris married Richard E. Winkel in Iola, Kansas and he preceded her in death. On May 26, 1997 Doris married Ernest F. Fritz in Coffeyville, Kansas and he preceded her in death. Doris was a homemaker and a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Coffeyville, Kansas. Survivors include two sons William Winkel of Zillah, Washington, Donald Winkel of Wichita, Kansas; three step sons Ernest Fritz Jr. of Idaho, James Fritz of Missouri and Robert Fritz of Florida; three daughters Shirley Selby of Independence, Kansas, Carol Unruh of Amarillo, Texas and Virginia Elliott of Surprise, Arizona, four step daughters Mary Kreh of Maryland, Sandy Burdina of Minnesota, Cindy House and Candy Austin of Maryland; two brothers Max Holt of Largo, Florida and Paul Holt of Dalhart, Texas; one sister Wilma Leahew of Cherryvale, Kansas; ten grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren
