Donnie Wayne Eaton, age 65, of Lafontaine, Kansas died Sunday, January 9, 2011 at the VA Hospital Hospice Unit in Wichita, Kansas. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, January 13, 2011 at the Lafontaine Christian Church with the Reverend Kenny Richards officiating. Burial will follow in the Ross Cemetery in Neodesha, Kansas under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Thursday, January 13, 2011 at the Church of Christ in Lafontaine, Kansas with the family receiving friends. Donnie was born September 23, 1945 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to Kelbert Franklin and Mildred Mae Johnson Eaton. He lived in Mount Vernon, Illinois until he was 10 years old when the family moved to Cabool, Missouri. Donnie graduated from the Cabool High School. On July 20, 1967 Donnie entered the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge on March 10, 1976. Donnie also attended CTI and received at degree in automotive mechanics.On November 16, 1985 Donnie married Marjorie James in Elk Creek, Missouri. He worked at Koch Industries in Wichita, Kansas and also for Rusty Eck Ford in Wichita, Kansas. In 1989 Donnie joined the Army National Guard and was honorable discharged in 1997. He was a charter member of the First Logistical Command, DAV and the Church of Christ in Lafontaine, Kansas. Survivors include his wife Marjorie of the home one son Joshua Eaton of Lafontaine, Kansas, two daughters Cindy Cottrell of Lafontaine, Kansas and Loretta May of Missouri three sisters Mildred Doty of Cabool, Missouri, Rose Hanson of Mount Vernon, Missouri and June Hamilton of Cabool, Missouri one brother Emory Eugene Eaton of Springfield, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents three brothers Arnold, Maxie, John and one sister Sharon.
