Donald "Donnie" K. Musgrove, 71, of Independence, Kansas passed away Thursday afternoon January 17,2019 from natural causes.
Born April 3, 1947 in Independence, Kansas, to Carl and Clarissa (Reynolds) Musgrove. He was raised and received his education in Independence, graduating from Independence High School in 1965. Donnie served 4 years active duty in the U.S. Airforce, stationed at Luke Airforce Base in Phoenix, AZ, and one tour in Korea. He was honorably discharged with a rank of Sergeant. After his service Donnie had his son Geoff Musgrove.
Donnie then returned to the Independence area and met the love of his life Lougene "Genie" Musgrove. The two were happily married on February 15, 1992. Donnie and Genie resided in Independence the entirety of their marriage.
Donnie shared the passion of motorcycles with friends and family and was a member of the American Legion Post #139. He was always ready for a good time and being around those he loved.
His family includes: wife, Lougene Musgrove, children, Geoff Musgrove and wife Karen of Lake Oswego, Oregon, Heidi Robison and husband Brian of Independence, Douglas Grindstaff and wife Holly of Trabuco, California, grandchildren, Jacob and Nick Musgrove of Oswego Lake, Oregon, Rachel Meyer and fiancé Eric Musgrove of Independence, Lauren Meyer and fiancé Cody Morris of Helena, Montana, Aaron Meyer of Los Angeles, California. Along with 9 great grandchildren. Brothers and sisters, Carl Musgrove Jr. and wife Joycelyn of Independence, Thomas Musgrove and wife Linda of Cherryvale, Donna Huser and husband Gary of Yukon, OK and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Donnie was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Shirley Hanson.
Funeral services will be held at Potts Chapel in Independence, KS on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. Following the service there will be a procession to the American Legion in Independence, where there will be a celebration of his life.
