Donald Harold Linn, the youngest of three children to Chester Earl Linn and Clara Lucille Linn (Quigley), was born on February 14, 1946 in Canton, Illinois.  He attended grade school in Buell, Missouri where father owned and operated a grade 'A' dairy farm.  He moved to Independence in 1962 with his parents and graduated from high school in Independence, Kansas in 1964 and joined the US Air Force after graduation.  He was discharged in 1972 and went to work as a System Analyst/Programmer for Automotive Control Corp.  He later moved to Cherryvale and worked as agent and area manager for Prudential Insurance in Cherryvale, Independence, Caney, and Coffeyville.  He was a co-owner of Helm, Inc oil company.  He joined the Kansas Army National Guard in 1973 and served until 1983 when he went back to active duty as an Active Guard/Reserve member and retired from active duty in 2000 and worked as a System Administer for BSE of Overland Park, KS.  He then worked as IT Manager for Charloma, Inc until full retirement in 2016.

He served his community in numerous positions during his life.  He was a reserve detective with Independence Police, Chief of Reserve Police in Cherryvale, quarter master of the Cherryvale American Legion, secretary of Cherryvale Country Club, secretary of Cherryvale Elks, Cherryvale Cub Master, Hunter Safety Instructor, member of Cherryvale School Board and board member of the Independence First Church of the Nazarene.

He married Judith McGregor in 1965.  They had two sons, Sean T. (Angela) Linn of Iola and Darin M. (Daleen) Linn of Cherryvale.  They later divorce and he married Janine Broderson (Harley) in Independence in 1991.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Claude W. Linn and his sister Laura Lou (Kirks).  He is survived by his wife Janine at home, his sons Sean T. (Angela) of Iola, KS, Darin M. (Daleen) of Cherryvale, Eric (Sheridan) Broderson of Coweta, OK, Amy Broderson of California.  Grandchildren Brett Linn, Kristen (Michael) Anderson, Devin (Brittany) Linn, McKenzie (Connor) Whinery, Chet Linn, and Page Fink, and 10 Great Grandchildren.  Nieces Cheryl (Ron) Jefferson, Julie King and nephew Rod (Cindy) Kirks, and his brother-in-law Robert Kirks of Independence.
