Donald James Johnson, 64, of Buena Park, California, passed away at the VA Hospital in Long Beach, California on Monday, March 19, 2012. Donald was born June 25, 1947 to the late Matthew and Zelottie Johnson. He attended school in Independence before serving two years and 11 months in the U. S. Army to protect our country and received an honorable discharge. Donalds hobbies were flying jets and playing the guitar. He played in different bands during his lifetime, The Bryon Walker Trio, The Sound Trek they were number one all over Europe, and other bands. The Sound Trek played in the battle of the bands in Germany and recorded an album which is on the market today entitled East of Underground. Donald was the second oldest of eight siblings. He will forever be remembered and leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving sisters, Janice Elias of Independence, KS Rosetta Ross of Houston, TX and Donna Carter of Bixby, OK his devoted brothers, Jackie Johnson of Ft. Smith, AR Gary Johnson of Independence, KS and Dennis Johnson of Independence, KS his half brother, Matthew Johnson, Jr. of the Philippines his beloved daughter Sheila Amador of Wichita, KS and his treasured grandchildren, Felix Jr., Justin, Marcus, and Antonio and three great grandchildren along with countless other family and friends whom were blessed to know him. He was preceded in death by his stepbrother, John Henry Johnson Scrapper. The memorial services will be held Friday, March 30, 2012, 1:00 p.m. at St. John Baptist Church, 1800 W. Laurel Street, Independence, KS 67301. Flowers may be sent to St. John Baptist Church on Friday, March 30th between 10am 12pm.
