Dixie L. Devore, 62, of Independence, Kansas passed away Friday at the Wesley Medical Center Wichita, Kansas.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at the Potts Chapel, Independence with Pastor Mike Adams officiating.
A Book signing will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2014 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. To 7:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel Independence.
The family has suggested memorials to the American Cancer Society and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Independence.
Dixie was born August 12, 1952 in Mitchell South Dakota the daughter of Ted and Eileen Jennick Bollock. She grew up in Mitchell South Dakota and graduated from the Mitchell High School.
On September 21, 1971 in Independence, Kansas Dixie was united in marriage to Jim Devore and the couple made their home in Independence. Jim survives at the home.
Dixie worked as a housekeeper for over 30years she also worked for Mercy Hospital.
Survivors include her husband Jim Devore of Independence, Ks., two sons Michael Devore and Teddy Devore both of Independence, Ks., one daughter Rachael Devore of Wichita, Ks., three step brothers Butch Whistine of Ill., Ron Whistine of Coffeyville, Ks., and Herb Whistine of Colo., one sister Connie Brandon of Glendale, IA., two step sisters Rita Kendall of Princeton, TX., and Sharon Newell of Pittsburg, Ks., one grandchild and one great grandchild.
