Dewey Bays

Dewey Everett Bays, age 52 of Wayside, Kansas died Friday, January 14, 2011 at his home in Wayside, Kansas. Cremation has taken place. No services are planned at this time. Dewey was born December 26, 1958 in Coldwater, Kansas to Harold Dwayne and Mary Jo Chaffin Bays. He grew up in the Independence area. Dewey attended school in Ingalls High School. Dewey drove a school bus for the Ingalls School System. In 1977 Dewey went to work for ACC and worked there for over 10 years. September 18, 1981 Dewey married Carla Sage in Independence, Kansas. The couple later divorced. Dewey also worked in cleaning at Cessna and Amazon and worked for the Rural Water District for Havana area. Survivors include his mother Mary Jo Bays of Wayside one son Eli Bays and wife Wendy of Cherryvale, Kansas one daughter Monica Smith and husband Michael of Sedan, Kansas one step daughter Leann Shephard of Richmond, Kansas two grandchildren Morgan Smith, and Melton Smith four great grandchildren Jack Foster, Lindsey Thompson, Dalton Vineyard and Alexandrea Shephard two great great grandchildren Koby Thompson and Khole Foster.
