Deryl Dixon

July 21, 1939 — January 26, 2015

Deryl Leon Dixon, 75, of Independence, KS passed away January 26th at Landmark Hospital in Joplin, Mo.
A Celebration of Life Service will be Friday January 30th at 2:00pm at Potts Chapel of Independence; burial will follow at Rutland cemetery under the direction of Potts Chapel of Independence
Deryl L. Dixon was born July 21, 1939 in Havana, Ks the son of James L. and Vivian (Norris) Dixon. He attended school in Havana and graduated in 1957.
On August 29, 1959 he was united in marriage to Margie Jean (Hammond) Dixon, she survives of the home.
Deryl worked for Funk Manufacturing for 20 years before retiring. Also, during this time, he and his father in-law operated an electrical, plumbing and refrigeration business in Cherryvale, Kansas for 10 years. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Second to that was his passion for hunting quail, working his bird dog, fishing, and restoring cars and houses. His legacy is his children and grandchildren and the practical life learned wisdom he instilled in each of them.
He is survived by one son Kurtis Dixon and wife Kimberlee of Independence, Ks and two daughters, Tami Goad and husband William of Mulvane, Ks. and Gina (Dixon) Finney and husband Steve of Independence, Ks, two brothers, James Dixon of Mid West City, Oklahoma and Kenneth Dixon of Havana, Ks and one sister Linda Stritzke of Caney, Ks and five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice and may be left with Potts chapel of Independence Ks.
