Delvin Kimzey

November 30, 1934 — January 28, 2018

Delvin Kimzey, 83, of Rural Elk City, Kansas passed away Sunday, January 28, 2018. Cremation will take place with Potts Chapel. A celebration of life service will be held Friday, February 2, 2018 at the Nazarene Church in Elk City, Kansas at 11:00 am. Memorials are suggested to the Wounded Warriors Program and can be left with the funeral home.

Delvin was born November 30, 1934 in the Mount Tabor Community, west of Elk City, Kansas. He was the son of Walter and Claudia (Blecha) Kimzey. Delvin was an only child.

Delvin graduated the eighth grade from the Mount Tabor Community one room school house. He joined the U.S Army on March 25, 1955 and was honorably discharged March 24, 1958. He served as a Military Police Officer. Delvin married the love of his life, Darlene Crites on June 22, 1957 at the Church of Christ in Sedan, Kansas. After, they spent one year in Louisiana and then moved back to Rural Elk City to begin his farming career, which lasted over 40 years.

He enjoyed fixing tractors, farming, hunting and talking about his good old Army days. Most of All Delvin loved spending time with his family and enjoyed being a grandpa.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Darlene, two daughters: Vicki (Roger) Hammack and Cheryl (Frank) Arnwine, son Steve (Elaine), grandchildren; Darrin Wood, Eric Wood, Tara (Adam) Hollar, Jessica Arnwine and Josh Kimzey, and eleven grand-grandchildren.

Proceeded him in death were his parents.
