Delores Elaine Fredericksen Hughes Catlett was born to Walter and Marguerite Fredericksen July 7, 1929 in Savonburg, KS.  On September 1, 2019, after a diagnosis of cancer, Delores left us with our memories and her love.  She grew up in Neodesha, KS and graduated from Neodesha High.  She was married to Eugene Hughes in Pendleton, OR and had a son Tom, of Richmond, TX, by this marriage.  After Gene’s death in a car accident Delores married Rex Catlett at the Nazarene Church in Neodesha.  They had two sons, Jim who preceded Delores in death and Don of Columbia, MO. Delores and Rex raised their sons and a nephew Lloyd Fernandez of San Antonio, TX in Caney, KS.

Delores worked as a telephone operator in her youth and later at City Publishing in Independence, KS.  In later years she had a variety of retail clerk jobs.  Delores was a member of the American Legion Aux, V.F.W. Aux and Red Hats.  She was also an avid fan of ICC Pirate Women’s basketball.  She was active with her alumni class from Neodesha and organized the family’s yearly reunions at Riverside Park for a couple decades.  She loved spending time with her nieces Sue Ann Fredericksen of Ft. Scott, Lin Fredericksen of Topeka, KS and nephew Russell Fernandez of Cherryvale, KS.

Delores belonged to the Caney First Christian Church for many years and attended the New Hope Church of Cherryvale.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, sister Patty Fernandez, sister-in-law Juanita Fredericksen and her son Jim Catlett.  She is survived by her brother Walter Fredericksen Jr. of Ft.
