Delfina Maria Leon, age 87, of Kansas City, Kansas formerly of Independence, Kansas died Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at the Villa St. Francis in Olathe, Kansas. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 1, 2010 at the St. Andrews Catholic Church in Independence, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Reciting of the Rosary will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 31, 2010 at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, October 31, 2010 at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Delfina Maria Leon was born December 24, 1922 in Chihuahua, Mexico to Tito and Joaquina Munoz Martinez. Delfina was raised in Parsons, Kansas and attended elementary schools in Parsons. On October 26, 1946 Delfina married Joe F. Leon in Parsons, Kansas and they made their home in Independence, Kansas. The couple later divorced. Delfina worked at Automotive Controls in Independence, Kansas and was a member of the St. Andrews Catholic Church. Survivors include two daughters Mary Jo Leon and Marcella Leon Clay both of Kansas City, Kansas one son Joseph Martin Leon of Greer, South Carolina 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by one son, Michael Phillip Leon Sr., parents Tito and Joaquina Martinez, two brothers Leonard and Tito Martinez Jr., one sister Lupe Martinez.
