Deborah Ann “Debbie” Matukewicz passed away September 13, 2021 at her home in Tulsa, Oklahoma after being diagnosed with cancer earlier in the year.  A graveside service is being held Saturday, September 18th at 10 am at Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas.

Debbie was born February 20, 1954 in Independence to Charles and Frances Brant.  Debbie was the 2nd of five children and is survived by siblings Steve Brant, Lisa Shaver, David Brant and Tracy Harder, along with mother Frances Brant.

She married Joseph L. Matukewicz on June 5, 1971   Debbie and Joe celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this June.  They have two sons, Joseph D. Matukewicz of Los Angeles, California and Jeffrey S. Matukewicz of Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Debbie and Joe lived and worked in a variety of cities during their 50 years of marriage, including Hot Springs, Arkansas; Portland, Oregon; Charlotte, North Carolina; Tulsa, Oklahoma and Independence, Kansas.

Debbie retired in 2015 having most recently worked as a Manager at the Independence Country Club.  She and Joe moved to Tulsa to be near their grandchildren Max and Avalyn.

She is preceded in death by her father Charles and her grandmother Zelpha Moore-Ripley to whom she was close and is also resting peacefully at Mount Hope.

Debbie’s childhood friend Pastor Mike Adam will officiate the service on Saturday.
