Dean Strickland

Dean R. Strickland, 66, of Caney, Kansas died Sunday February 6, 2011 at Mercy Hospital. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 1000 am Thursday, February 10, 2011 at the Trinity Lutheran Church Caney, Kansas with Pastor Kenneth Lott officiating. Interment will be at the Sunnyside Cemetery Caney under the direction of Potts Chapel of Caney. Viewing will be Wednesday, February 9, 2011 from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm. The family has suggested memorials to the CanKan Dream Builders library fund which and contributions may be left at the Trinity Lutheran Church Caney or the Potts Chapel of Caney. Dean was born June 17, 1944 in Wichita, Kansas the son of Allen R. and Charleen Allen Strickland. He attended and graduated from the Coffeyville School System. On August 29, 1975 Dean was united in marriage to Sharon Harris in Bartlesville, Oklahoma and she survives at the home. He entered the United States Air Force and while serving attained the rank of Staff Sergeant Dean worked at the Spears Manufacturing as a electrician and retired after 15 years after retiring Dean continued working for Spears part time. He was a member of the Caney Golf Club he was also part of the Dalton Gang Car Club. Survivors are his wife Sharon of the home, two sisters Vicki and husband Jewell Hartzell of Coffeyville, Cheryl Strickland of Nevada, Mo., Several nieces and nephews as well as cousins. One sister preceded Dean in death Beth Strickland.
