David Henry Holmes Obituary June 21, 1978 – August 5, 2023
If you knew David Henry Holmes, you are blessed by the legacy he leaves behind. His kindness, caring, quiet demeanor, calming spirit, compassionate heart, and listening ear touched all who knew him. He had an overflowing abundant love for everyone, especially for his wife Heather and their son Logan, his siblings, in-laws and forever friends. The legacy he lived in his short 45 years of life will continue to bless generations to come.
David was born on June 21, 1978, in Prescott, Arizona and moved to Independence, Kansas with his parents when he was in grade school, a move that would lead him to the love of his life, Heather. He graduated from Independence High School and attended Coffeyville Community College. David worked full-time while earning a Bachelor of Arts in Business, Management, Marketing and Related Support Services and an MBA in Logistics, Materials, and Supply Chain Management from Friends University of Wichita. David had a 26-year career with the Cessna Factory in Independence, Kansas, where his hard work and dedication led him from an assembler to a Parts, Control & Logistics Manager.
When he wasn’t working hard for his family, he was cheering on Logan in football, tennis, bowling and encouraging him to study hard in school. David had unwavering support for the Dallas Cowboys, proving he was an eternal optimist. As an enthusiast of all sports, he was known to his friends as a stat expert. David made it a point to watch “their shows” with Heather and Logan. Some say he was a grill master creating fabulous BBQ for his family and friends.
David received the call to his heavenly home on Aug. 5, 2023, where he was welcomed by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The Apostle Paul wrote in Titus 3:8, “This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men.”
David believed in God and his lifetime of good works, which he was careful to maintain, they were good and profitable to all who knew and loved him. He made a difference to all who knew him and will be greatly missed by all.
