David A. Evans, 62, of Independence, Kansas passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at the Labette Health, Independence.
David Evans was born June 8, 1955, in Eureka, Kansas to Roland F. Evans and Mary Ann (Gurwell, Evans) Metzger. He grew up in Rogers, Arkansas.
On February 1, 1980, he was united in marriage to Nancy Bredehoft and she survives at the home.
David served in the U.S. Marines and was honorably discharged in 1976. He was employed by KDOT, Transystems and other construction companies as a construction engineer until health forced him to retire. He was a certified shooting sports instructor until his health declined forcing him to stop.
David is survived by his wife, Nancy; a daughter, Megan Walters and husband Curtis of Pittsburg, Kansas, Gabriel Evans of the home and grandson Damien Evans. One sister, Connie Gauwain and husband Steve of San Angelo, Texas; one brother, Mike Evans of Crane, Missouri and many nieces and nephews.
He is proceeded in death by his parents and two brothers, Larry and Calvin Evans.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 14, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at Potts Chapel, Independence, Kansas. Funeral services will be held, Friday, December 15, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Potts Chapel in Independence with Pastor Grady Miller of Bolton Friends Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Harrisonville Cemetery in rural Independence, Kansas.
