Darrel Roe was born July 6th, 1943 in Wray, CO to Max and Bernice Roe. He went to school in Adams City High School in Commerce City, CO and attended college at the Metropolitan State College of Denver. He served in the Air Force from 196266, was overseas in Guam, and was honorably discharged with the rank of E2Airman. He worked in the furniture industry for years, working mostly in the western United States. He moved to Caney and married Nancy Morrow on November 7th, 1987. They had a wonderful 23year marriage and friendship together. She survives him at the home. From 198891 he was general manager of Blackledge Sales Company. He was also manager of Blackledge Antique Mall from 199398, His parents, Max and Bernice Roe of Caney, also survive him. He was a very attentive and loving son, and cared greatly for them. His brother Dallas Roe preceded him in death. His nephews Danial Roe and his wife Beth and family, and Thomas and Leisa and their family also survive him. He also leaves Dave and Tressa Morrow, and his granddaughters Andrea and Meredith Morrow of Charlotte, NC. He was very proud of his granddaughters and was a great friend to Tressa and Dave. From 1988 to 2000 he was active in the Montgomery County Action Council, serving as President in 199697. In 1991 he was President of the Caney Golf Club, and was a member of the Caney City Council from 199192. Darrel was also active in the Chamber of Commerce, serving as President in 1992. He was active in Class, Ltd., serving as Chair in 2001. From 200103 he was Mayor of Caney. Growing up in the Denver area, he was a huge Denver Bronco fan and long time season ticket holder. The Funeral Services will be Tuesday, October 5th and 10:00 in the Caney Christian Church with the Reverend Brad Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunnyside Cemetery under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 4, 2010 at the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas.
