Danny Leroy Muller, age 67, of Independence, Kansas died Thursday, February 23, 2012 at his residence in Independence. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 27, 2012 at Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas with Pastor Phil Adams officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, February 26, 2012 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the American Legion Post 139 or the Church of the Brethren and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Friends may leave online messages at www.pottsfuneralhome.com Danny was born February 25, 1944 in Independence, Kansas to Kenny and Mattie Botts Muller. He graduated from Independence High School. He served in the United States Army as a Sergeant during the war in Vietnam from December 12, 1962 until he was honorably discharged on November 23, 1964. He received a medal in marksmanship. He married T. Lumley on August 3, 1970 in Independence, Kansas. They later divorced. He married Anne Wilson in Independence, Kansas on August 17, 1989. He worked for the Independence Fire Department and later for Universal Atlas Heartland Cement Company for 25 years, retiring in 2010. He was a member of the Church of the Brethren, United States Steel and Carnegie Union, a lifetime member of the Independence American Legion Post 139 serving as Vice Commander. He was also a lifetime member of the VFW post 1186. He is survived by his wife Anne of the home in Independence two sons, Johnny Muller of Parsons, Kansas and Keith Muller and wife Cathy of Sycamore, Kansas one stepson, Brandon Colyott of Columbia, Missouri daughter, Cristy Holmes and husband Tony of Independence, Kansas one stepdaughter, Breanna Nelson and husband Tyler of Charleston, South Carolina brothers, David Muller and wife Ruth of Mesa, Arizona and Joe Muller and wife Paula of Maple Lake, Minnesota one sister, Kim Jordan and companion Kenny Henson of Independence, Kansas and six grandchildren, Kaylee Muller, Kellie Muller, Dalton Holmes, Nicholas Colyott, Matthew Colyott and Zane Nelson. He was preceded in death by his parents.
